About
God's protective love…
"You
shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or
on the earth beneath or in the waters below. † You shall not bow down to them
or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the
children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those
who hate me, † but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me
and keep my commandments. †
Surely
it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me
from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back. † For
the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to
the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness. † The living, the living--they
praise you, as I am doing today; fathers tell their children about your
faithfulness. † Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and
fall; † those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar
on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not
be faint. † "Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew
their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the
place of judgment. †
