About God's small voice…

Exodus 15: 25 There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them. 26 He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you." (NIV)

God's voice is not often booming like thunder. God's voice does not often grab the attention of the masses of the world. His voice comes to us in sometimes barely perceptible ways. The small nature of God's voice defies the belief of the proud, defies the imagination of those who doubt. To hear God's voice requires a clean and submissive heart from those who truly love Him. From the way the world works and from the way the world behaves, one might think God's voice has gone silent. God's voice is small. His voice is so small we may perceive He speaks to us only in a tiny and seemingly insignificant way. So small is the voice of God, we often do not hear Him. To hear His voice, we must understand God seldom speaks to us in our native language. When we want to hear God, we must be willing to listen to Him speak to us within our heart in His language rather than in our own language. We must remember His voice comes to us only when we are willing to listen. We must be willing to hear God but we must realize we may not hear Him. We may want to hear Him but we may not be able to hear Him. We may pray that God speaks to us but He may not speak to us like we want Him to speak. However, whether we hear His voice or not, we must remain faithful. We may pray for signs, words, miracles, and wonders, but we may not get them but we must remain faithful. If we want to hear God, we must be willing to listen to Him in His language…His language of infinite love.
