Previous Daily Devotional About God's tender voice… John 10:2. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. 3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. (NIV) One of the reasons we fail to hear God is because His voice of love is so different from the voices we hear as human beings. Every day we hear voices on radio, on television, at work, at school, at church, or wherever we are. In all the voices we hear in our earthly life, we seldom hear tenderness. However, when we open our heart and we are willing to hear God speak, we can hear Him speaking to us in waves of tenderness. His supernatural waves of tenderness come to us in our deepest hour of need if we will but quiet the noisy turmoil within us. If we want to listen to God and hear God, we must remember He speaks to us in love rather than in words. In His language of love, our pain, our hurt, our troubles, our loneliness, and our problems are all soothed by His tender voice telling us He loves us, He understands us, and He accepts us. When we want to hear God speak in His tender way, we must remember He loves us no matter what we have said, thought, or done. To hear God speak in His tender way, you must be willing to turn your heart in His direction. To hear God speak in His tenderness, you must be willing to turn away from the noisy temptations of the world and rest all your burdens upon Him. To hear God speak, you must go to the foot of His cross and be willing to hear His voice in suffering as He dies for you. |
