Previous Daily Devotional About grasping at the wind… Galatians
6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (NIV) If your hope for eternal life is in the Old Testament or your hope for eternal life is in some other form of religion then your hope for eternal life in Heaven will not become your reality. If your hope for eternity is placed in anyone other than Christ, you are grasping at the wind. For your soul’s sake, grasp hold of what is firm and sure. To make your hope for eternal life in Heaven come true, grasp hold of Christ Jesus. In the world, many people would rather grasp at the wind than accept Christ. In the world, people do not want to accept Christ because their sin has made them blind. Ironically, sin will make the sinner grab at any straw possible except the hand of Jesus. Sin will make people grasp at the wind to avoid accepting Christ. When it comes to God and Christ, you need to be honest. Any argument you present to God about trying to get salvation without Christ is without merit. Consider this…Christ is God’s Son. If you reject God’s Son, do you think God will accept you regardless of the life you live? However, in the sinner's mind, the sinner's mind keeps saying “Surely there must be a way of avoiding giving my life to Christ. Surely, God will understand. Surely, God is fair. Surely, God will give me a pass when I die. Surely, I can stand before God after I die, lie about why I rejected His Son, then God will understand.” However, surely, surely not! God will not be mocked. God will not be fooled. God will not be fooled with before we die, and after we die it’s too late to do anything about our life on earth. Surely, all those people who stand before God and who grasped at the wind when they were alive looked back after they died and saw how grasping Christ’s hand could have saved them. However, looking back after we die is the wrong time to see we were wrong. Grasp hold of Jesus because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
