Previous Daily Devotional About having life… 1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (NIV) If you drive a car, you make sure you have enough gasoline in the tank to get you from wherever you are to wherever you want to go. If you run out of gasoline while you are on the road, you have a major problem. Our life is like gasoline. Our life gives us the energy and power to keep going just as gasoline gives our car the energy and power to keep going. When our life runs low so does our energy. When our life runs out, we are dead. In many respects, our life runs out while we are still living in our body. When we realize our life has a definite end and there is nothing we can do about our life ending, our human hope can vanish. When we do not have Christ we have an existence that is devoid of hope and promise. When we do not have Christ we have a life that is condemned to death and we sit and wait for the grim reaper to come and take us down. However, we have a hope in Christ. The wellspring of our life is the hope and promise of Christ who is the giver and sustainer of life. When we have Christ living and alive in us, we have a life. When we have Christ living and alive in us, we have a good life even when we face battles and trials here on earth. When we have Christ, we are eternally alive, eternally at peace, and eternally fueled up to take on the many burdens we face each day. |
