Previous Daily Devotional About having more life... 1 Thessalonians 5:10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. (NIV) There are times when we think we have at least figuratively died. When jobs, careers, loved ones, or treasures in our life are lost, part of us or part of our life seems to go too. When we seem to lose part of ourselves, we often feel dead inside. It is at these moments of crisis, when all seems lost, that we must affirm and reaffirm our faith in God. In our moments of crisis, God is not only with us, God is within us. In every moment, either good or bad, God is there all the time. When your soul has been devastated, God is cradling you in His arms. When all of the life in your heart seems to have slipped away, God is pouring new life into you. When your mind is totally numbed in shock, God is working to give you new mental visions and new mental aspects. The truth of our lives is that we are never really dead. When we accept Christ, we have His promise and His witness that even our physical death is not the end of us. In fact, our physical death is not only not the end of us, it is the beginning of a greatness we cannot begin to fathom. All is not lost at any point in our life, no matter what happens. All things may be changed. All things may be radically different than they were just a short time before. However, somehow, when we have faith in God, we end up surviving, and when we have enough faith long enough, we can even prosper in the toughest of times. In one of the toughest truths of our life, although God does not make bad times, God fully expects you to make good things happen in His name when the bad times come. Making good things happen in the bad times is often our biggest challenge, but this biggest of challenges is relished by God as an opportunity to score big victories for Him. So no matter what you think, you are not dead. You are still alive and ready to prosper in His love, prosper in His truth, and prosper in His tender care. |
