Previous Daily Devotional About healthy power… Jude 1:22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. (NIV) The ability to trust demands the ability to feel free of fear, feel free of doubt, and feel free of indecision. In our relationship with God, if we believe God is a being a love, then we are able to trust He will look out for us and we can trust He will not hurt us. If we are afraid of God, then fear, doubt, and indecision rule our relationship with Him. When you come to know Christ as a personal friend, as someone who will not hurt you but heal you, you build up trust in Him and in His power over your life. Trusting in God because He is a personal friend is an example of healthy power. When we possess healthy power, we feel secure because we are able to trust. When we do not possess healthy power, we must resort to unhealthy power by intimidation, threats, and getting attention in unhealthy ways. The more healthy power you have, the more secure you feel regardless of your circumstances and the more you are able to trust others and trust God. |
