John 5:37And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. (NIV)

God may not speak to you in audible words saying to you “I love you.” However, audible words from God are not nearly enough to convey to you how much God loves you. What God wants to convey to you when He tells you He loves you is beyond audible words. What God wants to convey to you when He tells you He loves you is the most powerful message you can ever hear. Indeed, if you have normal hearing then you hear audible words and sounds all the time. For God to use audible words to convey His love to you would mean His audible words have to compete with all the other sounds and words you hear all the time. The truth is God’s words of love are beyond audible sounds. God’s words of love are beyond pictures or images. God’s words of love can only be received with an open heart…a heart turned away from the world and turned toward Christ hanging on the cross. God’s words of love can only be received by a heart totally broken because of who we are and what we have done against God and against His only begotten Son. It is our God of infinite love who comes to us when our heart is totally broken because of our sin. It is our God of infinite love who comes to us and mends us, heals us, and redeems us out of our many trials and our many sorrows because of our broken heart.
