Previous Daily Devotional About heaven compared to earth Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (NIV) Think for a moment. What do you have? You have things of many types. A person born 100 years ago in 1902 would be astonished at the things you have. You also have thoughts. As do all human beings, you have capabilities of thought that can praise God in ways that make Him smile. You have people. Survey all the blessings of God in your life. There is a lot there, isn't there? Now take all you have, and using your imagination add to all you have now all that you could ever possess in the future. Compare all of this, all that you could possibly have on this earth compare all this to heaven. You could own the whole world, but compared to heaven, even the whole world does not compare. In heaven you find not just the blessings of God, you find God himself. In heaven, you find Jesus Christ, waiting on you. In heaven, you have a personal mansion. In heaven, there are angels of unspeakable beauty. In heaven, you have sights the human eye could not see nor sights the mind could never comprehend. Because there is heaven, you can have hope for today and tomorrow. Because there is heaven, you have a sure future. Because there is heaven, you can love others and love God more fully. Because there is heaven, the people, mountains, flowers, trees, and God's creation on the earth takes on added meaning and importance each day. |
