Previous Daily Devotional About hell… 1 Cor. 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (NIV) What is so important about life? What is so important about continuing on in life? The
alternative to life is a totally dark nothingness...a totally dark nothingness
so deep we can never see or know the end of it. This totally dark nothingness is
so deep and so consuming all we think about gets erased as we think it, all we
love gets erased as we love it, all we hope for gets erased as hope for it, all
we dream about gets erased as we dream of it. The beating of every heart in this
totally dark nothingness never takes place because the heart is dead but the
consciousness is still alive…alive enough to know there is no more of what
once was and no hope for could ever be. There is in this totally dark
nothingness a yearning so deep the yearning causes the soul to burst for just a
tiny drop of hope, or a tiny drop of living water to quench the insatiable
thirst to live. This, ladies and gentlemen, is hell. In this place, in this
totally dark nothingness, all of who you are is burned alive not once or twice
but repeatedly over and over forever. Hell is a place where other souls who no
longer have a living body scream out in utter agony and terror. There is in this
horrible place a begging for life…a begging for any kind of reality…a
begging to be set free from the bonds of this eternal prison.
