Previous Daily Devotional About His sheltering arms 1 Peter 1:3 In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (NIV) The power that keeps you going each hour is God. Physically unseen and audibly unheard, this power will often shelter you from the torrent of adversity that causes pain and suffering. The protective power of Christ does not always shelter you from attack, but the power of Christ does keep you smiling and keep your spirits up when other people might collapse from the strain and stress of life. God's sheltering power is the power of God that created the mountains, seas, and skies. His power is the power in you that enables you to see, appreciate, and comprehend the majestic love that created all that exists. When the evil one attacks you, it is love that keeps you positively going in positive directions. Without the love of God burning in our hearts, we crumble under the weight of the darkness. With Christ, we are always resilient and we always come back to do God's will. In the love of God, there is no turning back and there is no defeat. The greatest victory of your life was scored not by you, but by Christ who calls you to be His own. In mysterious and supernatural ways we do not understand, God works in every circumstance if you want Him to do so. God does not want you to wallow in defeat. For God, your life is too valuable to let you slip out of His nail-scarred hands. When you have lost people and things, you are still with God. When the people and things of earth are taken from you, Christ's love comes into your life and His love fills the emptiness. God's will is for your heart to overflow with His goodness, His hope, His understanding, and His compassion. God is always present in every moment, in every place of your life. It is because God is present in every moment and in every circumstance that we know we live under His sheltering arms. |
