About honesty, holiness, and sincerity 2 Corinthians 1:12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. (NIV) Nothing reveals the extent of God at work in your life more than honesty. Honesty revealing God's love works in you and honesty shines His love out from your life and heart. Holiness begins with honesty before God, with honesty before others, and with honesty before yourself as you look in the mirror. Being honest brings on holiness and honesty maintains holiness. Being honest does not mean you are confrontational or hurtful in any way. Being honest with God, with others, and with yourself, is the great insulator that keeps the evil of lies away from relationships of every kind. Honesty permits the awesome truth of God to prevail in every part of life. Honesty keeps the heart pure and full of the presence of God. The temptations of the world assail the honest heart, but the prayers of a humble person reduce the temptations to nothing. Honesty brings out the purity of your heart, for when you see injustice you want to right the wrongs. Honesty permits you to look in the mirror and see the parts of your life that need to be changed, corrected, fixed, or banished. We can praise God He has given us a view of our lives so that we can be honest. In dishonesty, in lies, and in deceit, there can be no change in the heart, no correction in life, no fix to any problem, and no banishment of any sin. Praise God we can see Him and know Him in truth. Praise God we can be honest. |
