Previous Daily Devotional About how living right helps you… 1 Samuel 26:23 The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. (NIV) We do not always do what helps us. Sometimes we can spend a large part of our lives doing the opposite of what helps us. If you look at the way our world works, the way people act, and the way people live, people do not live right and they know it. It seems as if people are bent on their own self-destruction. People drink alcohol and do drugs to excess, even when they know these behaviors or habits will hurt them. People engage in dangerous lifestyles even when they know the lifestyle could hurt them or even take their life. What should be obvious may be obvious but people ignore the obvious. Living right, doing right, and being the right kind of person helps you. Living right can help you avoid accidents, avoid injury, and avoid many health-related maladies. Living right helps you maintain your family life. Living right helps you keep your job and progress up to a better job in the future. Living right helps you by enabling you to keep your mental alertness and by enabling you to study, learn, and grow in wisdom. Living right helps you get along better with friends, family, co-workers, and others. Living right has so many personal advantages you would think the idea would catch on and everyone would be living right. In the spiritual battle within us, Satan does not want us to live right. To really and truly live right, we have to fully wage war against the powers of darkness that want us to do wrong things. With Christ as your constant friend and helper, you can fight against the dark forces and live right. |
