1 Peter 1:3 Praise be
to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given
us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from
the dead, 4 and
into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for
you, 5 who
through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that
is ready to be revealed in the last time. (NIV)
We
cannot easily deal with the truth about life. For if we deal with the truth of
the action of the evil one against us, we begin to think we are helpless,
hopeless, and devastated. If we try to deal with the truth about the evil one
killing each and every one of us, we can go insane. If we try to deal with the
truth about the evil one and evil in general, we can become so paranoid we
cannot function. In our distorted and untruthful life, we find it much easier to
blame God for all the dark events of life than to admit the dark events are
caused by the darkness in the world and the darkness in our life. In this mess,
we are often afraid to admit we seem to be helpless and hopeless against the
dark power of the evil one. However, there is another truth. This other truth is
that you are not helpless and hopeless against the evil one. You are not
helpless and hopeless because you have God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and
the Holy Spirit who stands next to you to help you and give you power to win.
You have His winning power to defeat evil. You have His winning power to destroy
darkness. You have His winning power continually renewing your faith,
continually bringing you love, and continually bringing you His Light to dispel
every darkness every hour.
