About keeping your eyes on Christ…

Acts 1:9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 "Men of Galilee ," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." (NIV)

Distractions abound in our life. If you want to be distracted from your problems, cares, and worries of life it is easy to watch television and forget for a few moments about what keeps you in hopelessness and in defeat. However, to slog your way though the terrible mud of life that keeps you down, you must keep your eyes on Christ. To fully win every encounter with the terrible darkness that abounds in life, you have to keep your eyes on Christ rising up into the clouds. To defeat every encounter with the great deceiver, you must keep your eyes on God’s truth of forgiveness in Christ, His truth of compassion in Christ, and His truth of eternal love for you in Christ. For when you think you have been defeated, you must look up to Christ hanging on the cross for you and because of you. Surely what looked like the greatest defeat for God would most certainly, three days later, turn into your greatest victory when your Savior walked out of the tomb. It was your victory over death Christ claimed the day stone was rolled back. It was your victory He won as He walked away from the dark sepulcher of your defeat.
