About letting God be within you…

Exodus 33:14 The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." (NIV)

In our world that is so engineered, wired, interactive, and instant, we sometimes have the idea God can be made real or reached by human actions. We cannot get to God by climbing a mountain. We cannot get to God by going to a web site, or by any other means of human action except one. The one human action, that is really not a behavioral action but a spiritual action, is letting God be within us. Letting God be within you is the result of the spiritual action of letting God fully love you. When you take this spiritual action, you let down all of your defenses so you really feel His love and you really know His love. God is with you all the time. God lives within you. Within you is where you find His kingdom. To find God, you cannot grasp ahold of a physical thing. To find God, you must let the barriers that keep you apart from God crumble away. If there is one barrier to reaching God that is common to all people, that barrier is sin. Our sin is the barrier that keeps us apart from God. Our sin separates us from God by a space infinite in size. To reach God, we must see our sin, admit to our sin, and turn away from our sin. To reach God, we must let our sin fall away. To find God, we must all tell the truth that sin has a grip on us and then we must repent or turn away from our sin. For many people, repenting is difficult. For many people, maintaining their "turned away" state is also difficult. In addition, letting down the barriers placed between God and us because of our sin means we are exposed. However, when we let down the barriers caused by sin, we expose our hearts to God. We must remember that God is already within us. When we turn away from sin and let down these sin barriers to God, we receive His touch, and we experience His touch in an instant because God is already within us. The system God has put in place within your heart is an automatic system. When you turn away from your sin that separates you from God, God automatically comes in to be with you, to touch your heart, and to tell you in ways you will understand and accept that He loves you.
