Monday's Daily Devotional

About letting the infinite touch your life…

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (NIV)

God is infinite. God is infinite in size, in love, and in power. To talk of the infinite nature of God is difficult. We do not appreciate the infinity of God because we cannot know about what is infinite. Although we cannot know all about the infinite, we can open our life to the touch of the infinite. We can sense there is a supernatural being much bigger than we are in our life. When we have problems or issues, if we open our heart, we can sense in real and dynamic ways the presence of this infinite supernatural being we call God. We can sense the bigness of God but we cannot know what the bigness of God fully means. What is most amazing about the infinite nature of God is we can be touched by His infinite nature. We can open our heart and life up to God's infinite love, His infinite mercy, and His infinite forgiveness. In our fallen and broken humanity, we can think we are not worthy, but our human unworthiness is overwhelmed and erased by the infinite forgiveness of God. In our fallen and broken humanity, we can think we are unlovable, but our being unlovable is overwhelmed and erased by the infinite love of God. In our fallen and broken humanity, we can think there is no way God or anyone could ever forgive us, but God is infinite in His forgiveness and we receive forgiveness from Him. Lastly, when we open our heart and life up to the infinite, we are touched, changed, and transformed by His infinite love, mercy, and redeeming power.
