Previous Daily Devotional About Light against sin… Romans 7:13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. (NIV) Sin is an utter darkness yet sin masquerades as light. Sin makes the sinner believe there is no Light or the Light of the world is a farce. In our lives, the darkness of sin wants our soul. In our lives, the darkness of sin wants to possess us, own us, and control us in every way. Our weapon against sin is the blood of Christ. It is in Christ we are able to find a way to deal with sin. Without Christ, we are helpless against sin. Without Christ, sin will have its way with us and we will sink faster and faster into sin's abyss. Christ came to us as the Light of the world. When our souls have been immersed in the darkness of sin, we have a way to find the Light and the Light is Christ. Christ dying on the Cross in such utter agony, covered with the blood of His torture, sacrificing His all for no selfish reason, seems to be an act of futility in a world steeped in darkness. Yet, Christ's Light in you, living in you because you have turned away from sin, gives you the eternal love, comfort, compassion, and forgiveness that brings ultimate freedom…and the ultimate victory called eternal life. |
