Previous Daily Devotional About listening to GodMatthew 17:5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" (NIV) All of us would claim we want God to speak to us. Some of us would want God to speak to us about the everyday things of life that bother us, bug us, or make life difficult. The facts are that God has spoken. He even has a book out. The book is called, "The Holy Bible." Most of us read the Bible, but do we listen to God when we read? Do we listen to God as we pray? Do we listen to God or are we so anxious to have God do whatever we want God to do, that we want to talk and not really concern ourselves with listening? Perhaps if we listened to God more, we might want to speak less. God is continually sending us messages within our hearts. We must continually strive to open our hearts to receive these messages. In the small quiet spaces of each day turn the "third ear" of your heart and mind to God. Listen to the messages of love, peace, forgiveness, power, grace, strength, and encouragement flowing to you. |
