Previous Daily Devotional About listening to God... Matthew 1:19 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."(NIV) God intervened in Josephs life by using a dream. God intervenes in your life if you are sensitive to His messages. You may not get messages from God via dreams. Most of the time, God speaks to you in ways that make you work to hear the message. You are surrounded by noise and clamor in the physical world as well as being surrounded in your emotional and spiritual world. You must work to hear Gods call and message because you must filter out the noise and clamor. You can listen to God best if you meet Him in your private and public time of worship. You can listen to Him as you meditate on the magnificent love, care, and compassion He has for you. So great is His love for you that He sent a baby into the world to give you a chance at eternal life. It is this marvelous gift from God that inspires and touches all of us during the Christmas season. It is this marvelous gift from God that inspires and touches you to give away the love God gave to you in the form of His Son. |
