Previous Daily Devotional About listening to the Great Shepherd John 10:2 The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. 3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. (NIV) Some of us talk to God in prayer. We have our lists of people we pray for each day. We pray for others, for the world, for our nation, for our family, and for ourselves. When we pray we also need to listen as well as talk. God can and does speak to us. In our prayer time we need to listen to the Great Shepherd. Our Christ Jesus knows our individual names. Of all the billions of people that have ever lived and will live in the future, Christ knows your individual name and He knows your life. Christ speaks to you each day more than you speak to Him. In any hour of darkness we tend to try and find our own way. But it is in the hour of darkness that Christ can come through to us in the most dramatic ways. And when we hear the Shepherds voice, we want to follow Him. |
