Previous Daily Devotional About living forever… John 8:51 I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death." (NIV) Some people believe these words about never seeing death are a myth. Some people believe these words are a myth because these people have loved ones who have died. When we lose a loved one in death these words can either bring hope or just ring hollow. Of course, Jesus was not talking here about our skin, bones, blood, and organs living forever. Jesus was telling us that the real "you", the real person that you are, the real person who is alive inside your skin will live forever. The scientific fact is that you are just a bag of dust with water and something extra thrown in to make you alive. The dust and the water are not alive. The "extra thrown in" or "you" can live forever and ever. To live forever, Jesus says we must keep His word or teachings. To keep His word or teachings we must let Him write His words on our heart and in our soul. When we are able to let Him do His writing and then follow His directions, we will live forever. |
