About living forgiveness Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (NIV) It is a good thing to know you should forgive others when they have wronged you or when they have committed wrongs against others. It is a good thing to listen and read about forgiveness. However, it is not a good thing to relish the idea of forgiveness and never deliver the goods of forgiveness. God loves you and forgives you. He also expects you to pass on His forgiveness to others by actually forgiving them when they trespass against you. Forgiveness is not just an isolated theological concept devoid of any application to our lives. Forgiveness should be part of the substance of our lives. Forgiveness should be the substance of our lives because if we love someone and do not forgive them, we cannot possibly have loved them to begin with. Part of loving others is the act of forgiving them without conditions even after they have wronged us. We must live forgiveness, for when we live forgiveness, we erase all the boundaries that separate us from those who wrong us. We must live forgiveness our whole lives without ever expecting the persons we forgive to come over to our way of thinking. We must live forgiveness until our last minute on earth. For when we ascend to see Christ, the forgiving Master will want to say to us "Well done" because we have lived forgiveness. |
