Monday's Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About looking for happiness outside yourself... Mark 8:36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? (NIV) True happiness cannot be found outside of yourself because happiness is a result of how thankful you are within your heart. If you owned the whole world and if all the people of the world loved you, yet you never stopped to count your blessings, you would be miserable. Happiness is found by seeing and appreciating the blessings of life, especially the blessings of God's love and power. Happiness with God is possible only if we look within our heart. Looking within, listening within, and speaking within is how we make contact with God. When we are overwhelmed with the love and power of God, we are overwhelmed from within our heart and soul. When we open our heart and listen, we can find God telling us how much He loves us. When we are overwhelmed with thanksgiving for God's blessings within our life we are to give thanks to God in prayer. When we give thanks in prayer, we find happiness.
