Previous Daily Devotional About making a sacrifice… Luke 18:28 Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!" 29 "I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life." (NIV) Being a Christian is easy, sometimes. Being a Christian is difficult, most of the time. Christ has made His way a difficult way to walk for a reason. The reason Christ's way is so difficult is so only His children who truly believe and truly honor Him in all they say, think, and do are separated out from those who just pretend. If following Christ was easy, everyone would be on board and enjoying the ride. However, in our history as a faith, following Christ has a cost. For some of our Christian forebears, the cost of following Christ was the supreme sacrifice of their earthly life. If we will be honest, we must admit the hard road of Christ is the best road. For when we walk, stumble, and even crawl our way down His difficult road, we glorify His holy name by how we live. What we must remember is that all our pain and suffering for Him is worth it. What we give to Him and what we give for Him has a glorious reward. What glory we will see! What love we will feel! What rejoicing we will find! How wonderful it will be to we see His smiling face! It is worth every effort you make as His child to be His child. It is worth every trial you must endure as His faithful servant to serve Him. It is worth every hurt and heartache you must experience to be a part of His remnant. For some day soon, you will see Him. |
