Previous Daily Devotional About making peace through selflessness… 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Inner turmoil! Inner war! Inner conflict! All of these battles require peace if the battles are to come to an end. All of these inner issues haunting so many of us can continue to haunt us until Jesus returns. However, these issues can all be vaporized in an instant if we would just forget about ourselves. We know we should forget about ourselves. We know we even MUST forget about ourselves to see our issues disappear. However, the turmoil, the war, and the conflict rage on within us. So what is the solution? What is the remedy? The remedy is the annihilation of our self grounded in selfishness. To annihilate our self we must give our sin-covered self to Jesus. We must, as the old hymn calls us to do, surrender all. We cannot truly reform who we are, therefore we must surrender all of who we are. We cannot start over and remake who we are, therefore we must give who we are away in exchange for a new self, a new person, and a new creation. When we surrender all, when we give our self away to Christ, then He will give us a new self. He will give us a new self we think of as our old self reborn. When we are reborn, the inner turmoil goes away. When we are reborn the inner war is over. When we are reborn, the inner conflict comes to an end…and His incredible peace remains.
