Previous Daily Devotional About a mighty mission… Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. 14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (NIV) As long as you have breath and your heart is beating, you have life. As long as you have breath and life you have a mighty mission and purpose in life. In the realms of God, there is no such thing as retirement. To God, every second you are alive is an opportunity to do His work and show His mighty power of love. When you think you are dead, you are still alive. Every beat of your heart should be a reminder to do the work God has for you to do. As long as you are alive, God has plans, purposes, jobs, missions, and projects that need your sweat, muscle, and prayer to get done. Although you may temporarily lose your direction in life, God has a compass that will lead and guide you to your next mission for Him. If you look around you, it is not that God does not have anything for you to do. The truth is the missions available to you are so overwhelming, one often does not know where to start. The beating of your heart is a tiny signal to you to always remember there is still one more second of work left to do for God. After that one second of work is accomplished, there is yet another second of work, then another, then another. Thinking logically and in a secular vein, we might think at some point in our life an end will come. However, God is above logic and secularism. With God, the beating of your physical heart may stop but even when the beating of your physical heart stops there is still a mission to be accomplished. However, after we die and we ascend to Heaven on angel's wings, our days of labor will not tire us or exhaust us. Then, as now, we shall indeed rejoice as we bring in His harvest of sheaves. |
