Previous Daily Devotional About multiplying your courage Philippians 1:27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. (NIV) We are afraid. We are often afraid of losing our loved ones, afraid of losing our life, afraid of losing our possessions, afraid of losing our jobs, afraid of losing our income, afraid of losing our friends, afraid of losing anything that gives our life meaning. However, we can possess a part of life we cannot lose. We can all posses Christ and His love that can never be taken from us. The martyrs who faced torture and death were perhaps afraid in the physical sense but they all had courage in Christ. For in Christ we have someone who will never leave us and someone we will never lose. In Christ, we can find every bit of courage we will ever need, for we know that no matter what happens to us, we will always have Him and He will always have us. When we are afraid of things in this world, we know that Christ is beside us and He will walk with us until we see Him face to face in His world in Heaven. We can have courage to face tomorrow because Christ wills for us only to do what is good, just, right, and moral. When we do only what is good, just, right, and moral we can have the calm assurance that no matter what might happen to us or be done to us here and now, that Christ is with us until His great tomorrow. For in His great tomorrow, there is no reason to fear. In His great present, each of us is held close to Him and we will be under His love. |
