Previous Daily Devotional About multiplying your faith Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" 6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, `Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you. (NIV) Faith is a recurring issue in these devotionals. Faith recurs in our discussions because faith is an exercise of our heart and mind that keeps all of the pieces of life from coming unglued. Faith can be multiplied like a seed put into the ground. However, the seed that is planted, in order to multiply after it germinates, must be tended, watered, fertilized, weeded, and loved. The love of God pouring down over you from His cross does this multiplication job. If we ever think we lack faith or we think our faith is weak, all we need to do is look at Christ suffering for us. Our faith grows stronger when we have let ourselves be immersed in the water that baptizes us and washes away our sins. Our faith grows stronger when we take in His nourishing manna that comes from His love for us. Our faith grows stronger when we have uprooted the dark and evil influences that want to tempt us and take us down. Our faith grows stronger when we walk the Lord's path as we listen to the Shepherd's gentle voice to follow Him. Our faith grows stronger when we spend time listening to Christ telling us how much He loves us. When we do these things, our faith is multiplied in mysterious ways we cannot understand or fathom. |
