Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About not dealing with the fear of losing control… Romans 8:15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." (NIV) We cannot control all things and all people. When we are obsessed with controlling people and events, we can easily destroy others and ourselves because we do not permit others the freedom to be who God wants them to be. If we have a fear of losing control, we must find the courage to let others be who they are. For example, sinners must not come to Christ because someone controls them. Sinners must come to Christ in freedom because the Holy Spirit speaks to a sinner's heart. We do not need to be afraid of losing control when our heart and life is placed in the hands of Christ. Many times, a person's fear of losing control is grounded in a severe lack of self-confidence. In addition, fear of losing control causes us to want to control others because we cannot control ourselves. All of us must learn to let God control what God wants to control. All of us can relax and not worry about what will happen in the next moment because God is in all things.
