Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About not feeling love and approval from your parents… Hebrews 13:5 …and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (NIV) In many respects, we grow up dependent. Some persons grow out of this dependence while many persons do not. When we are children, we are dependent and want to feel loved and approved by our parents or parental figures. For some people, because they never felt loved or approved, their life is lacking. Many of us did not have perfect lives as children. Because of a myriad of circumstances, we may not have been loved or approved in healthy ways. However, we must grow out of our dependency in this matter. We must come to understand parents or parental figures are imperfect. Nevertheless, we do have a perfect parent who loves us and approves of us all the time, regardless of our age or condition. What our parents or parental figures did not provide us, our Father in heaven does provide us. Our Father in heaven is demanding but not coercive. Our Father in heaven demands we live in freedom and live like we are loved by Him…because He loves us and He wants us to be free of any form of dependency. |
