Christmas Daily Devotional Day 2 of 10 About being obedient and righteous in doing the Lord's willMatthew 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us." 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. (NIV) Because Joseph was righteous, he understood, at least in part, what the angel in the dream communicated to him. In our own lives, God does work in strange ways but our understanding of God depends upon how righteous and obedient we are. In most cases, we do not need to fully understand everything about God or His will before we do His will. Many things about God are hidden. God has His good reasons for not telling us everything we think we want to know. Each day we should strive to be content with His love and His peace in our hearts without demanding an explanation from Him before we do what He asks of us. |
