About our faithful employer Matthew 25:21 "His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' (NIV) When someone is faithless, there is the implication that a failure has occurred to adhere to an oath or obligation. When a friend becomes faithless, there is a lack of devotion and a dissolving of any intent the friend might have had in standing by us through thick and thin. When a person is faithful to another person, the faithful person has a moral claim on the life of another. This moral claim is what houses many relationships. When love is absent in a relationship, the relationship can be held together by a faithfulness on the part of the parties to each other. When an employee is disloyal to an employer, there is a breach or breaking of an allegiance to the employer. There is, even if no written contract is in force, an unwritten contract and an obligation to adhere to codes of ethics and codes of conduct that benefit the employer. When an employee is faithful toward the employer, there are rewards for the employee. For the faithful employee, there can be a sharing of the employer's good fortune. For the unfaithful employee who cheats, lies, or embezzles, the potential demise of the employer can be visited back upon the employee. If we think of God as our employer, and ourselves as His employee, there are rewards in keeping His kingdom on earth in order. The more we look out for God's interests here on earth, the more blessings we receive from Him. When we put God's interests before our own, God is faithful and shares His happiness with us. |
