About our transformation through holiness Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV) The world is a captivating place until the darkness overtakes us. On the surface, the glitter of the world is attractive until the glitter fades away. When the glitter fades away and we see the result of living life based only on the values of the world, we find we need God. When the attractions of the world fade, we learn we need God more than ever. When we are caught up in the grip of our own wants and needs, the claws of Satan begin to squeeze the life out of us, and we find we need God more than ever. We may not want to admit it, but we need God every hour. God calls us to make sacrifices, for in making sacrifices for His kingdom, we find the victory of living His way on earth. When we live our life according to Christ's commandments, we live above the darkness that eats away at our souls. Our mind is transformed by Christ when we are willing to sacrifice our ideas of worldly success in favor of His ideas of humility and contrition. Our minds are transformed as we sacrifice ourselves to resist the temptations of sin, greed, and ego. Out of the darkness of our sin comes a new person in Christ because He touches us when we are willing to be made new by Him. In Christ, we find new ways of thinking, new ways of creating, and a new person within us. |
