Previous Daily Devotional About the outpouring of God's mercy Ephesians 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV) God is wonderful. God is merciful in His wondrous ways. God is so wonderful, He still loves us even though we are sinners and fall short of His desires for us. Even when we commit sins and we rebel against Him, God still loves us. God puts up with us even when we make the same mistakes over and over again. Even when we know we are doing wrong, He still loves us. We do not deserve to be loved by God as much as we are loved. In our often terrible ways at living with each other, in our efforts to kill each other, we, as human beings, showing utter hatred for one another, are still loved by God. Now, this day, as so many parts of the world erupt in war and violence, we need God's mercy more than ever. God's love and mercy are so great that even when we do the vilest things and make the gravest mistakes, He is there to lift us up. When we try to run away from God, He is still with us because He loves us in spite of ourselves. When we try to do things on our own and leave Christ out of our lives, He still tries to help us because He loves us so much. We fail Christ when we live the way we want to live instead of the way Christ wants us to live. Yet, even when we fail Him, He will never fail us. Even when we do not deserve to be near Him, Christ wraps His arms around us. When we have fallen and are broken, Christ comes and lifts us up and invites us to break bread with Him. Thank you, Lord Jesus. |
