Previous Daily Devotional About a perfect life 2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. (NIV) A perfect life does not exist. We might see a perfect life portrayed in the movies or on television, but it is not possible to have a perfect life. What looks perfect from the outside is always imperfect if the inside can be seen. Some people try to achieve a perfect life. They try to attain the perfect job, the perfect mate, the perfect car, the perfect house, and they try very hard to raise perfect children. Sooner or later we all learn a perfect life is impossible to achieve. Sooner or later our quest for perfection is seen as the folly it is. However, there is a way to achieve a semblance of perfection in life and that achievement of perfection is through Christ. When we have Christ in our life, it is as if we have a part of us that is perfect. This semblance of perfection appears in our life because Christ does not just seem to be perfect He is perfect. Our quest for perfection comes to a halt when we understand we cannot achieve perfection because of the sin in our lives. Our quest for perfection is achieved when we invite Christ into our heart and life. Our quest for perfection is achieved When we turn away from our sin and accept Christ's healing love shining down from the Cross. When we turn away from our sin and hold out our sin to Christ. When we reject that part of ourselves that we call sin. When we do these things, we are then in a position to be made perfect by His blood that was shed for us. When we have turned away from our sin and have invited Christ into our heart, we have achieved a perfection of soul. When we achieve perfection of soul in Christ we experience amazing grace. It is this amazing grace that makes us perfect and places our perfect heart and perfect soul into the hands of God. |
