About a perfect world Ecclesiastes 7:20 There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. (NIV) In this world there is both darkness and light. There is in this world both sin and grace. There is a spiritual war going on for the souls of millions a war being waged within the heart of each person. The world is not perfect. The world is horribly imperfect. Defective cells grow from defective DNA and these defective cells can turn into the scourge of cancer. Defective upbringing in the life of a child creates a life far short of perfection. Every item ever made by human hand's is in some way defective or imperfect. We do not live in a perfect world. In our imperfect world, there are those who wish to steal our property and goods. In our imperfect world, there are those who wish to kill us and kill our loved ones. We must all face the grim reality of death. For in a perfect world, there would be no death, no war, no trouble, no sickness, no blotch or blemish of any kind anywhere. However, we are not totally helpless and without resources in our world of imperfection. We are all children of God, fallen, but redeemable. We are all held in the loving hand of God who wants us to see our imperfections and then try to do something about them. Perhaps God's great measuring stick for our life measures not what we achieve as a result of our doing great things, but what we achieve by working to overcome our imperfections. In the grandest scale, Christ died on the Cross to give us a chance to deal with our most imperfect and sinful heart. When we look to Christ and surrender our all to Him in humble contrition we do at last begin to achieve some perfection in the eyes of God. |
