About the power of knowing yourself…

2 Chronicles 1:11 God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have." (NIV)

To go from where you are to where you want to be, you must know yourself. Living in any kind of ignorance, no matter what kind of ignorance, eventually leads to disaster. To know who you are, as you are, is power-laden knowledge. To know yourself is power because if you know who you are, you can begin to change if you need to change and want to change. If you know who you are, you can begin to worship God in total and complete honesty. If you know who you are, you can begin to love in honesty. The power of prayer is released when we are fully honest before God. The power of God in us is fully realized when we stand before Him in total honesty and humility. When you know all about yourself, you will come to know God lives within you and He loves you. Knowing all about yourself, knowing the really bad parts and the really glorious parts about yourself can set you free from the chains of ignorance.
