About the power to change Deuteronomy 1:6 The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, "You have stayed long enough at this mountain. 7 Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; (NIV) We have the power to change ourselves. This does not always mean we should change ourselves. This does not always mean we do change ourselves. However, we must not overestimate the power God has given us in bestowing upon us the power to change. The rocks, mountains, and great prairies of the earth change but they do not change themselves because of their own will or volition. It is only you and other human beings who have the power to change who you are and how you are. God gave us the great gift of will or will power so we can grow and advance in our heart, in our thinking, and in our life. It is our power to change or repent that gives us the ability to turn away from a life plagued with sin. It is our power to change that enables us to change from a life of sin to a new holy life. Our life is always full of hope but our hope hinges upon our ability to turn away from the darkness within us and turn toward the Light of our Savior Jesus Christ who died for each of us. We are not hopelessly and helplessly locked into being who we are today. For God, in His great mercy and love, gave us the power to change and to be more like Him every hour. What may disappoint God the most is we have so many opportunities in life to grow to be more like Him, yet we turn away from Him. The power of darkness, in most instances, does not want us to change but to remain in our chains of slavery to sin. God is most glorified when we turn away from the dark power of the slavery of sin. God is most glorified when we turn our eyes upon Him. We are not locked in or locked down in our spirit. For in Christ, we are set free in our heart and soul, and in Christ, we cannot be bound or made slaves. |
