Previous Daily Devotional About power to control the uncontrollable… Matthew 15:32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way." (NIV) We do not have a problem dealing with what we can control in our life. Some persons are able to control nearly every minute of every day. However, there are other persons who are able to control very little in their life. Most of us are somewhere in between. In every person’s life, in your life, there may be now and will definitely be in the future times when you must find the power to control the uncontrollable. We cannot always control our health, our pain, our relationships, our jobs, our world, and all the other parts of our life. When we face the uncontrollable we need to find the power to respond in a positive and constructive way. If there is a practical use, speaking in more secular terms, for a faith in God, then finding the power to control the uncontrollable is a primary use of faith in God. When we face matters we cannot control, it is our faith and love for God, along with His love for us, that helps control uncontrollable circumstances. You may be in a circumstance where you are starving, but you can control how you act and how you behave. You may not be able to control where you are in your body, but you can control where you put your heart and mind. When you cannot control where you are in your body, you can put your heart and mind in the palm of Christ’s nail-scared hand. In His hand full of love and grace, you find the power to deal with, survive, and even flourish when darkness comes. When you put your life in Christ’s hand, He will feed you and take care of you. You may not be able to control factors in your environment, but you can control how you respond to those factors with Christ’s help and guidance. You may not be able to control what others do around you, but you can control how you respond to others by always loving them, caring for them, and showing them understanding. In the face of the uncontrollable, we can all love, forgive, and give more away then we were given. In the last analysis, when we all do God’s will, uncontrollable circumstances begin to lose their power, and we become winners over insurmountable odds. |
