About
power to recover from trauma and devastation…
1 Corinthians 14:3
If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,
but have not love, I gain nothing. (NIV)
When we experience
trauma and devastation within our life, we are disoriented, we are doubled over
in grief, we lose our connections to others, we lose connection to our world,
and we feel powerless. In these times of trauma, devastation, powerlessness, and
disorientation, we can find the power of God to keep going. We can find the
power of God to deal with circumstances that damage us and destroy us. We can
find this power of His love over the darkness in our lives by surrendering up
and taking charge of what little we have left. But how can we surrender and take
charge at the same time? Are not surrendering and taking charge opposites? On
the surface, surrendering and taking charge are indeed opposites. However, you
must look deeper. The strategy here is to surrender the darkness while you take
charge of the light within you. You are to surrender the awful while you possess
the beautiful. You are to surrender the grief while you embrace the in-filling
love of God. You are to surrender your helplessness while you pray for power to
control every minute, minute by minute. You are to surrender your disorientation
while you focus your mind on the love of God within your grasp. When you
surrender while you take charge of His love, God’s blessings will flow and
healing will come to you. |
