Previous Daily Devotional About the promise of a better life… Romans 4:16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. (NIV) Our life on earth can be a little better tomorrow, perhaps even a lot better tomorrow. However, a little better life on earth tomorrow or even a much better life on earth tomorrow is nothing compared to our future life in Heaven. As believers in Christ, it is our heavenly view of things while we are alive on earth that keeps us believing. It is our heavenly view from within the darkness in the world that keeps us alive and living to do God's work and do His will each day. It is good to carry in your heart the hope for a better life for ones self and for others in this time and in this place. However, it is better to carry in your heart the hope for a wonderful life in Heaven. It is better to have both of your feet on this earth and part of your heart in Heaven than to have both of your feet on this earth and have no connection to Heaven. We all need to have a connection to Heaven for Heaven is our real home. With your feet on the ground here on earth, your daily persecutions and your daily afflictions become more bearable and more manageable when you have a vision of Heaven. Heaven is our ultimate goal where we will be wrapped in the arms of God in glory for eternity. Most importantly, no pain, no affliction, no wound, no hurt, no trouble of any kind on earth can separate us from His love if we are willing to be humble and contrite while doing His will. No mountain of adversity can ever separate us from Him if we are willing to look over the horizon to see His smiling face and if we yearn to hear Him tell us "Well done, good and faithful servant." |
