Previous Daily Devotional About pushing against sin… Mark 9:42 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. (NIV) Drug pushers push people to use drugs. We call them "pushers" for that reason. Sin merchants in the media push sinful ideas, thoughts, and behaviors. Ordinary people push sin by encouraging sinful acts and behavior on the part of others. When you face the truth and tell the truth, you can see the pushers of sin attacking us from every side. Bad as this situation is, we are also pushed by the temptations of Satan. Clearly, the dark forces so prevalent in the world today are trying to push us away from God. What are we to do in the face of all these efforts to push us away from God? We are to push back when sin pushes us. Each of us has the capability to push back against every form of darkness. We may feel weakened and helpless when the sin pushers push against us, but we are not helpless. When we pray, we may be in agony from the wiles and temptations that seek to destroy us. However, when we pray, God hears us and He responds. When we pray, we must be totally honest with God and we must pour out our feelings of weakness to God. When we pray, we must totally abandon all pretext at not being pushed or pulled away from God. A few minutes of tearful confession can totally and completely disable the powers of darkness that seek to destroy your soul, your heart, your mind, and your life. For when we confess to God we are under attack, His love can intervene for us and His love will help us. No effort by the darkness and the sin pushers can ever defeat you if you let God touch you in the hours of your deepest hurt and temptation. No effort by the darkness to destroy you can ever win out if you pour out your burden at the foot of Christ's cross. No effort by the darkness can ever push you away from God when you are honest with Him in heart-felt repentance. |
