Previous Daily Devotional About pushing back against unbelief… Mark 9:24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (NIV) You are not helpless against unbelief. Human reason would tell us we either believe or we do not. Human reason would tell us we believe because we pile up enough tangible evidence to not just believe but to know. However, the truth is you survive each day by using your faith or ability to believe. Every second you live you live in faith. You live in faith the events of the next minute will be as they have been in previous minutes. The truth is all of us can push back against unbelief with the help of God, even when we do not always believe in God. For if there is ever a time when God is with you, a time when God answers prayer, a time when God will push with you to help you believe in Him and trust in Him, that time is when you do not trust and do not believe. Although it may sound like nonsense, it is the highest and utmost will of God that you dispel your unbelief by seeking to believe. It is the highest and utmost will of God for you to trust and believe in Him during your times of unbelief. It is the highest and utmost will of God that you should believe in spite of your inclinations to not believe. It is in your moments of unbelief that God comes closer to you than ever if you would but just look up to Him and ask Him to help you in your unbelief. |
