Previous Daily Devotional About pushing others… Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." (NIV) There are ways to get others to do what you want. You can manipulate others, coerce others, push others, pull others, cajole them, and entice them. To categorize how we deal with others, we can either push them or pull them. Pushing and pulling may seem to be opposites, but with people, pulling someone is the same thing as pushing them except when you pull someone you are standing in front of a person and when you push someone you are standing in back them. In truth, we may often try to push others so we can get what we want. We may push others to get our way because we are weak. Instead of pushing others out of our weakness, we should be giving to others out of our strength. We push or pull others because we do not feel strong enough to give to them. We push or pull others because others have what we want. We push or pull others because we do not feel powerful enough to give to others or because our own wants and needs are so dominant we think we have no control over our own life. When we constantly give to others, we are the persons who are strong. When we constantly give to others, we become stronger the longer we give. The opposite of pushing or pulling people is giving to them. We can all give. It is always God's will that we give. When we push or pull people we are trying to receive because we want something from them. When we give to others, it means we are stronger, and when we give, we empower others. After a while, when we have unselfishly given, and given, and given…what we unselfishly gave comes back to us multiplied many times over. After a while, when we have unselfishly given, and given, and given…what we unselfishly gave out falls upon us from Heaven multiplied many times over. |
