Previous Daily Devotional About reaching out in love… Proverbs 15:17 Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred. (NIV) Reaching out in love entails risk. There is risk from reaching out in love because when you reach out in love you may be turned back, rejected, maybe even scorned or ridiculed. Because reaching out in love requires so much risk and comes with absolutely no guarantee, many people don't reach out. However, we are commanded to reach out in love. God expects us to reach out. We even know deep within our heart we should reach out in love. However, when the rubber meets the road in our lives, too few of us deliver what God wants or what God expects. As great as the risk is of reaching out in love can be, the consequences of staying in selfishness and always taking care of just our own life are truly dire. Reaching out in love gives the heart of those you touch a chance to heal in supernatural ways we cannot describe in words. When we reach out in love we sometimes have to reach out to persons whose lives we do not always understand. However, reaching out in love brings God down to earth for you and for those you seek to touch. Reaching out in love to others makes God real to them. Reaching out in love brings the warmth and compassion of Christ into the frozen hearts of those around you. Reaching out in love brings love into your reality, and into the reality of all the lives of those you seek to touch in His name. |
