Previous Daily Devotional About receiving life… Deuteronomy 9:9 When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water. (NIV) At first thought, you do not need to receive life because you already have life. However, for millions of people, and for all of us, there can be times in our life when the life we have does not seem like it is worth very much. The truth is your life is diminished from the very moment of your birth. The moment you are born you begin to experience the pain of hunger and thirst. What could be a perfect life of no wants and no needs is only a far off dream, for on this earth, when we are alive, we have pain from unfilled wants and needs. The pain of unfilled wants and needs diminishes you and takes away much of the meaning, purpose, and joy of life. However, all is not lost. You can have in this life a new life that is not diminished. In this life, you can have a life that is not reduced down by your human wants and needs. In this life, when you receive Christ and the love He has for you, you then receive His power that is a new power over the wants and needs that take you down. When you receive Christ, His love comes alive within you and you are not resting in defeat but resting in victory. When you receive Christ, you have received the way, the truth, and the life. |
