More about receiving the truth…

Luke 8:13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. (NIV)

Receiving truth, wisdom, and love is not enough. As difficult as receiving truth, wisdom, and love can be, the test of your spirit or soul is to put down roots. When trials come you want your roots to be deep enough you will not be torn away or torn apart from Christ. If you have received the truth, the wind of darkness and adversity cannot just come in and tear you apart. To win out over adversity you must become deeply rooted at the foot of the Cross. In the Christian faith, you are called upon to do more than just listen and get happy with what you hear. You are called to be responsible before Christ. Christ calls you to dig down deep and apply His truth within your life. You are called upon to do work…often very hard work, to secure yourself in God's wisdom. Receiving Christ's truth, wisdom, and love requires you learn Christ's lessons of life. Learning Christ's lessons of life may mean you learn His lessons the "hard way" through your trials and afflictions.
