Previous Daily Devotional About
the refuge of God… Psalm 73:28 But as for me, it is good to
be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your
deeds. (NIV) The
goodness of God is a refuge for us and His refuge is available to us if we remain
close to Him. Very often, God is our only refuge in a world of trouble and woe.
He is often our only hiding place from the cares and worries that most surely
eat away at our life. We can receive God’s protection in the storms of life if
we come close to Him by abandoning all we are for Him. As sinners, we receive
the protection or refuge of His glory and grace only when we truly worship Him
without ever expecting anything back. God’s goodness and blessings are
available to us 24/7 if we are near, not far from Him. When we adopt the mindset
we are going to be His servant and seek His refuge no matter what happens to us,
blessings pour out upon our life. We make the Lord our refuge as we seek to
serve Him and love Him with all our heart and with all our might. As we come
close to God, we feel His power and might around us. He does not make us hide in
Him. He does not force us to serve Him. It is up to us, not up to Him about
where we place our life, where we place our heart, and where we place our
devotion. When the circumstances of our life are not good and we are assailed
from every direction, we have a friend in Jesus. In His arms we have a refuge
and a hiding place where He will soothe our hurt, heal our injury, and ease our
pain.
