About remembering Christ forgives you John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. (NIV) Christ does not approve of sinful and ungodly thoughts and behavior. Christ does not like sinful and ungodly thoughts and behavior. Christ does not want sinful and ungodly behavior in your life. Christ detests sinful and ungodly behavior. Although Christ does not approve, does not like, does not want, and detests sinful and ungodly behavior, Christ still forgives you. In forgiving you, Christ does not give you a license to sin. When Christ forgives you and you truly accept His forgiving love in humility and contrition, then you do not want to ever sin again. The forgiving love of Christ is not meant to be some kind of temporary eraser that wipes out your sins to make you feel better so you can sin again. The forgiving love of Christ is meant to change you and make you want to turn away permanently from ever thinking and ever doing sinful things again. When you fully accept Christ's forgiving love, you are not held prisoner to guilt or shame, for Christ does not want you to be imprisoned by what you have said or thought in the past. Christ wants you to be set free from this kind of emotional bondage of guilt and shame. Christ wants you to be set free from your bondage of guilt and shame so you can be a shining witness to His love and grace. Christ wants you to be set free from the bondage of your guilt and shame so you are empowered to lead a holy and devout life for Him. |
